The Indian designer Gaurav Gupta recently unveiled his Fall 2026 couture collection in a dramatic show in Mumbai, India. The 'Solar' act drew inspiration from Odisha's Konark Sun Temple, showcasing metallic brocades and five new bridal lehengas designed for the modern bride.
The 'Cosmic Union' act brought together the lunar and solar elements, resulting in a stunning bridal ensemble layered with thousands of hand-cut petals, creating a soft, dewy bloom. Gupta's menswear collection also made an appearance, with a ceremonial sherwani cut from jacquard brocade featuring Pegasus motifs.
The show's grand finale was a true spectacle. Bollywood film star Ananya Panday walked the runway in a bridal look composed of over 5,000 hand-cut camellia petals. Gupta's decision to end the show with a 'showstopper' is a nod to the Indian tradition of Bollywood, which he sees as a parallel universe to fashion, fueled by dreams and creativity.
